Local man arrested for hitting son with an ax

A local man has been arrested for reportedly hitting his son in the head with an ax.

State Police arrested 51-year old Paul M. Skilins Sr. for assault In the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. Skilins reportedly struck his son, Paul M. Skilins II, in the head with an ax while the two were drinking and smoking marijuana in the father's garage in Wolcott. Skilins II received a severe laceration when a portion of the ax hit the top of his head. Witnesses say the attack was unprovoked.

The Wolcott Ambulance transported him to Rochester General Hospital. His father was arraigned in the Town of Huron Court. He was committed to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, and is scheduled to return to court on August 24th.
