Two trucks drove through a high school soccer field, tearing up the grass and costing the school district thousands of dollars in repairs.

Police say vandals destroyed the school soccer field at Naples High School. Now dozens of students who use the field want to know who did it!

From deep tire tracks along the side of the school, to donuts in the middle of the soccer field, vandals destroyed parts of Naples school property and Cindy Trzeciak heard it happen.

Trzeciak said, “It really did sound like a farmer was plowing a huge tractor with a plow behind it.”

Superintendent Kimberle Ward was woken up by police. “The extent of it was shocking.”

Police say they believe vandals in two trucks did thousands of dollars in damage when they drove through the fields around 2 a.m. on Monday morning. They ripped up the grass on the soccer field making it unusable for dozens of students.

Kimberle said, “You've got students, especially the little ones, it's hard to explain to them why someone would do something so destructive.”

“After school I went and checked it out. It was pretty big. Pretty bad.” Nicole Hazlett is co-captain of the JV girls soccer team. They had to use a small area near the tennis courts for their latest practice. “We weren't able to scrimmage. We only did some shooting drills and some sprinting.”

Ward says she's determined to find the people behind all the damage. “It's very sad. And then you get angry. And I feel bad for our kids.”

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office at (585)394-4560.
