U of R releases name of student hit by car

A University of Rochester student is in guarded condition after being hit by a car driven by another U of R student.

It happened about 12:40 AM on South Plymouth Avenue.

Police tell us Mujtaba Syed, a senior from Dansville, was driving southbound on S. Plymouth when he hit Ariel Marc Nassau Besprosvany, a freshman from Mexico, who was crossing the street.

Nassau was taken to Strong Hospital and is in guarded condition.

U of R president Joel Seligman says his parents have been notified and are traveling to Rochester.

The driver, Mujtaba Syed, a U of R senior from Dansville, was not hurt in the accident. Police are charging him with DWI.
