Gates couple charged with robbery, grand larceny
A husband and wife from Gates have been arrested for robbery and grand larceny.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies say 46-year-old Michael Friedler and his wife, 43-year-old Tammy Friedler, confronted a woman sitting in her car and demanded her keys. It happened on Five Mile Line Road in Penfield back on October 17.
When the victim refused to had over her keys to Michael Friedler, he threatened her with 
a gun, broke the driver’s side window and ordered the driver out of the vehicle. He then took the car with the victim’s credit card inside. The vehicle was recovered, but not the credit card.
Both were arraigned in Penfield Town Court. Tammy Friedler was remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail / $50,000 bond. Michael Friedler was remanded to jail without bail because of his predicate felon status.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Department and the Department of Corrections, Michael Friedler has been arrested a number of times locally and he has an extensive criminal record dating back to 1999. He was just released from State Prison in April of 2009
Also on October 17, similar robberies occurred at Market Place Mall in Henrietta and in Greece. The Friedlers are being investigated for any possible connection.
