Donors supporting President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney have helped them raise hundreds of millions of dollars in their bids for the White House.

But a growing share of financial support from "super" political committees raises the specter of Obama being the first incumbent president to be outspent by his opponents.

Romney raised $76 million and Obama $60 million last month with the help of their political parties. That's as super PACs working in Romney's favor pulled in millions of dollars on their own, and are expected to raise more than $1 billion by November.

Reports detailing the candidates' and super PAC's finances are due to the Federal Election Commission by midnight.
