nullIt's a lesson in history, with a touch of competition. The Walnut Hill Farm driving competition kicks off later this week, but News10NBC got a sneak peek.

It isn't your average horse race or contest. Competitors will take on driving, 19th century style!

The Pittsford event is a way to showcase America's past, and show off beautiful horses and antique carriages.

More than 250 people come from all over the country for the competition.

"When you have a passion for something, what you're trying to do is reach for perfection.  And they're all trying to perfect their passion, whether it be for the horse, and the performance of the horse, and/or the passion for taking this piece of antiquity and turn it out as close as possible as the way it would have been turned out in its original state at the turn of the century," show mananger Ed Young tells News10NBC.

The Walnut Hill Farm competition goes from August 8th until the 12th. Walnut Hill Farm is located on West Bloomfield Road in Pittsford.
