All World Roofing, a roofing contractor in Miami, posted a nice, succinct list of causes of roof leaks. His list includes alligatoring, bare spots, blisters, flashings, ruptures, splits, calcination, and tree obstruction. If you're wondering, "alligatoring" is when asphalt roofs dry out and crack.
