Livonia coach accused of sending explicit material to students

Parents are outraged and shocked to learn a coach is accused of sending inappropriate pictures to girls.

Jeremy Socola was arrested yesterday.

Tonight he's in jail.

“He's been charged with sending explicit inappropriate pictures email to students under 16 and asking them to send the info in return.”

Livingston County Sheriff John York says Jeremy Socola sent 2 young girls explicit pictures through text message and instant messenger.

It happened multiples times over the summer.

Socola was coaching modified softball and football for the Livonia School District.

“How could someone been entrusted with our youth and our children and violate that trust, it's hard to conceive.”

The superintendent wouldn't talk on camera today.

But told me Socola is suspended.

That was welcome news to parents.

“I have 2 daughters there and it's scary.”

“What you do in your private life keep private, don't involve the kids.”

Socola has been coaching in the district for several years.

But the school only became aware of the incident Tuesday when a student's mom contacted them.

Parents say you just need to make sure you talk to your children about what's right and what's wrong.

“You trust that the school has taken care of kids when they're there.”

Socola is in jail tonight.

The sheriff's office is investigating whether there were more than 2 victims.

The DA says Socola's case is likely to go to a grand jury where more charges could be filed.

He says they are also looking into whether Socola can face federal charges.

The Livonia School District has dealt with a similar case.

In 2005, a teacher was accused of sexually abusing one of his students.
