We're fans of backyard chickens, but this might be taking it a little far: in Lake View Village, three bedraggled roosters recently caused consternation by showing up one morning without explanation. While they didn't bother passersby, and didn't seem unduly disturbed themselves (except by overly curious dogs), they obviously couldn't be allowed to roam free, for their own health or that of others. Unfortunately, no one seemed to know what to do with them...until a dedicated animal lover got on the case and rounded up some help.
After a humorous interlude in which the would-be chicken wranglers tried to persuade the chickens into a box so they could be safely moved off site, the boys are headed for safety and comfort, and they have a new place to call home. The mystery of how they got there in the first is unresolved; it might have been some weak Portland fencing that allowed a backyard flock to escape, or the roosters could have been dumped by someone who didn't want them anymore. Those with backyard chickens who can't continue caring them should call local animal care and control services or small livestock enthusiast groups so they can responsibly rehome them.View original post.
