It's been the site of two nighttime boat crashes this summer already, and now, there's a push make a pier in Irondequoit a little safer.

On Monday, Senator Chuck Schumer will call on the Coast Guard and the Army Corps of Engineers to add lights to the Summerville Pier. The announcement will take place at the Harbor Condominium Complex on St. Paul Boulevard starting at 1:00 p.m. Schumer says installing better lighting is cheap, easy and can help avoid boating accidents.

Police say eight people were injured in two different boat crashes this summer, and three people killed in 2008 when a drunk boater smashed into the pier.
