Changes are on the way for Wegmans LPGA and their charitable beneficiaries. Wegmans officials say they have now reached out to the United Way and the United Way has agreed to become the main charitable organization, which will broaden its reach.
Because of Wegmans' decision and old facilities, Camp Haccamo will be forced to close. Services that were provided to kids at Camp Haccamo will now be moved to the Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp in Rush. Wegmans is pledging $1 million to help with the transition of the camps. In the past, the two camps shared proceeds raised at the LPGA tournament. Each camp received $200,000.
Wegmans and LPGA officials have confirmed that because of the reached agreement with the United Way, Wegmans is now in negotiations to extend their title sponsorship beyond 2008.
