Propane shortage in Wayne County

According to the a Wayne County propane distributor, many customers are out of propane or facing very low levels going into a very cold night.

According to Graham's LP Gas in Newark, NY, the major propane supply line located in Watkins Glen, NY and owned and operated by Teppco LP, has shut off service on Wednesdays and Thursdays to all Western New York distributors due to a lack of supply. This will continue until the end of February. This has forced local propane distributors to find alternative sources of propane in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Teppco found a supply in Toledo, Ohio and has sent one of their trucks to get a new supply of propane. That truck with the new propane supply has not yet returned from Ohio but the owners at Graham's LP Gas are hopeful that it will be retuning tonight sometime.

According to the owners of Graham's LP Gas they have close to 2000 customers. In the last three days close to 700 customers have been calling to get answers on to why there hasn't been any deliveries. Some of the people calling are elderly and are parents with infant children. They are very concerned that they won't have heat tonight or this weekend.

Graham's LP Gas says they have 10 customers right now that are completely out of propane.  Graham's is paying extra to get this supply as soon as they can but this is putting a huge strain on homeowners in the area and the small propane distributors locally.

News 10NBC’s Berkeley Brean is in Newark talking with homeowners and will have the latest tonight at 5 and 6.
