The original sign was re-installed this morning. The restaurant at the corner of Culver and Empire Boulevard is reopening to include the donut shop that opened in 1958, then closed five years ago. You'll be able to get the original recipe donuts in the morning and then by noon, the Salvatore’s pizza menu takes over. Salvatore Fantauzzo says he's proud he can resurrect a piece of local history. “In my opinion, this is one of Rochester's landmarks. We have people coming by to take pictures of something they felt so good about.” Crews started re-furbishing the place in March and it's taken longer than expected because Salvatore’s had to find people who could restore Formica counter tops, booths, tile floors, even the ceiling to the originals from 1958. The opening of this location is pending the City's approval. They are hoping to open no later than November 15. For more Rochester, N.Y. news go to our website www.whec.com. |
