School of the Arts named finalist for NYS Lottery's "New York Sings" contest

A local school has been named a finalist for New York Lottery’s “New York Sings” singing contest. The School of the Arts in Rochester was selected as one of four contest finalists from more than 240 submissions statewide.

The contest provides schools with an opportunity to win $10,000, $5,000 or $2,500 to benefit their music education programs.

Voting runs through March 27.The school with the most votes will win. Winners will be announced on March 31.

The other three finalists are Frederick Douglas Academy in Manhattan, Public School 205 The Clarion School in Brooklyn and Union Springs Central School in Union Springs.
