You can say my apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I was born, raised and educated in the Rochester area.
I am a '81 graduate of Pittsford-Sutherland High School, and graduated from St. John Fisher College in 1985.
My fascination with politics, and news in general led me to an internship at WHEC my senior year of college. My first day of my internship I was assigned to go get an interview with NY Yankees owner George Steinbrenner who was in town for a fundraising event. As a Yankees fan it was a thrill, but more than that, I fell in love with television reporting.
After graduating from college, I worked in radio news in Warsaw, Batavia and in Rochester. I began my television broadcasting career 23 years ago. In my early years I was a general assignment reporter covering major local news including -- the Arthur Shawcross serial murder trials, the AMSA robbery, the civil rights trial, and the numerous local natural weather disasters.
I came to News 10 NBC in 1997 to start Rochester's only full-time medical beat at the time. I have also anchored weekends, and the 5 pm newscast.
In the summer of 2008, my career took a total turn. I was promoted to Sports Director, with the goal of providing local viewers with a unique perspective on local athletes and sports related issues. I guess my first interview with George Steinbrenner should have been a sign where my career in broadcasting was going!
In my free time I enjoy going to almost any sporting event, the movies, reading, and spending time with my daughter Sophie.
