But the security means little if the people in charge of watching for danger aren't paying attention. Bryan Harris said, “Sometimes they're very attentive to details, and other times...not so much." A photograph obtained by I-Team 10, taken Thursday afternoon around 5 p.m. outside the Rochester airport, shows a Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy playing solitaire on his I-Team 10 showed the photo to airline passengers today. Sara Andrews said, “What a waste of taxpayer money." The photo was emailed to the Sheriff's Department and I-Team 10. It was taken by a pilot on a stopover in Rochester. In the email, the picture taker had this to say, “Since I don’t live here, I have no vested interest, but is this what the local taxpayers get instead of enhanced airport security?" In a later email, the pilot goes on to say, “It's a waste of money and doesn't do anything for the publics’ confidence in flight safety." The Sheriff's Department says it takes very seriously any and all complaints and tells I-T eam 10 the incident captured in that photo is now under investigation by its internal affairs unit. In a statement, the department also says, “Rules, regulations and general orders have been in place that precludes the type of activity alleged in the complaint." In other words, playing solitaire on a squad car laptop is not allowed. For more Rochester, N.Y. news go to our website www.whec.com. |
