A jury in Buffalo is deliberating in the case of a local reverend accused of taking money from convicted criminals in exchange to help them get more lenient sentences.
Investigators say Ron House was using his influence to persuade others. Prosecutors say he often appeared in front of judges on behalf of criminals or had influential people write character references for them, all for money.
The case is being heard in Buffalo because so many of the witnesses have ties to the Rochester legal community.
