I Team 10 Update: Price of Greece Investigation Nears $400,000

Suspended Police Chief Merritt RahnSuspended Greece Police Chief Merritt Rahn has a scheduled court appearance tomorrow morning.

It's related to charges he falsified information in the background check of imprisoned former Greece cop Gary Pignato..

Today I Team 10 discovered the town's separate internal investigation of Rahn and the police department has now cost the town of Greece $382,450.

Rahn has been suspended since April and faces a disciplinary hearing next week. His attorney has requested the hearing be open to the public.

A spokesperson for the town says the investigation portion is complete and investigators are now in the process of putting together their written report.

We were told that Town Supervisor John Auburger was unavailable today to talk about the probe's price tag.

The internal investigation was ordered after the arrests of Pignato and another former Greece officer, Sergeant Nicholas Joseph.

Joseph was convicted in the hit and run crash that injured a pregnant woman and forced her to deliver prematurely.

While Rahn currently faces one felony criminal count, a grand jury has been considering evidence that may lead to additional charges.
