Police: Albion mother charged with aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law

Police tell us that an Albion mother was charged with aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law following a crash in the Village of Albion.

This information comes to us from the Village of Albion Police Department.

Police tell us that the Albion Police Department, as well as the Albion Fire Department and COVA Ambulance, were dispatched Friday night at about 9:15 p.m. to the area of 301 Hamilton Street for the crash. 

According to police, the crash involved a vehicle that was headed northbound on Hamilton Street. It allegedly went off the roadway and hit a utility pole. 

They say that 39-year-old Courtney Robertson is accused of being intoxicated, as well as allegedly consuming an alcoholic beverage, when the crash happened. 

In addition to this, police tell us that Robertson’s 6-year-old child was reportedly in the vehicle as well. They say that the child wasn’t injured, but was still taken to Medina Memorial Hospital as a precaution. Robertson was also not injured in the crash, and police took her into custody at the scene. 

Police tell us in a press release that Robertson was charged with: “Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated- E-Felony (Leandra's Law), Driving While Intoxicated- Misdemeanor, Consuming Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle- Traffic Infraction, Operate Motor Vehicle w/No Seat Belt- Traffic Infraction, and Move from Lane Unsafely- Traffic Infraction.”

According to police, Robertson is scheduled to be in the Town of Albion Court at 9:00 a.m. on April 11.
