February is American Heart Month, and each day, thousands of people face the challenge of coming back from a heart attack or heart surgery.
That includes people in Rochester, like Steve Wagor. He uses exercise and rehab to strengthen his heart.
Doctor Seth Jacobson of the University of Rochester says coming back from a heart attack isn't just about getting better -- it's about prevention.
"It's really a two-step process they need to initially get better, get their medicines, go to their doctor's appointments but ultimately we want to prevent a second episode from occurring," says Dr. Jacobson.
Doctor Jacobson urges everyone who has suffered a heart attack to eat healthier and exercise. Also, be educated and prepared to identify any future symptoms.
