Parents in the Batavia City School District were told that a student at the high school has viral meningitis.
They were alerted by a phone message on Friday. The virus is spread by person-to-person contact, or a cough, just as the common cold virus is.
The symptoms of meningitis can be fever, stiff neck and tiredness. No other information was provided by the school.
