March 31, 2017 06:05 PM

A black bear was captured on video in Sodus.

The bear was seen enjoying food from a bird feeder in the area of the Wallington hamlet. The video was provided by Ron Cook. He set up the camera after his bird feeder had been torn down.

"I thought at first because my feeder was being tore down every night -- I thought it was racoons," he says.

Racoons, it was not... When Ron checked the camera recently, he saw a very big bear with an appetite for sunflower seeds.

The bear loves them. "He's been here at 7:30 and 9:00 and 9:30 and then he came back at 1:30 in the morning to see if I'd come back and filled it again."

He's a big bear too, more than six feet on his hind legs. "When I looked at it yesterday, it totally blew me away," Ron says.

He adds, "I'm thinking I should start taking my feeder down at night like they suggest on television and putting it up during the day for the birds."
