UPDATE: Woman pulled from Genesee River identified

Rochester Police have identified the woman pulled from the Genesee River in the High Falls neighborhood Monday morning.

At around 9:30 a.m., the Rochester Fire Department and Rochester Police Department responded to Commercial Street after RG&E workers saw a leg or foot in the water near its station.

Investigators have identified the woman as 42-year-old Marie Lamere of Rochester.

The cause of death is still under investigation.

Five companies and twenty-four firefighters were involved in the rescue operation -- a process that took about 50 minutes.
