Brighton's town board voted Wednesday to ask the state to stop cutting down trees along the Erie Canal.
A $2 million project is underway to cut down the trees. State leaders say it will prevent flooded homes near the canal. It's upset some environmentalists.
Brighton leaders are sending a letter to the state asking that the project be put on hold.
