Comeback attempt falls short for Amerks as they fall in overtime

Last night the Amerks snapped a 3-game losing streak with a convincing win over charlotte, today the teams met again in North Carolina.

Three straight unanswered goals was not enough for the Rochester Americans (24-9-5-5) as they fall in the second of back-to back games against the Charlotte Checkers (24-17-0-1).

The Amerks trailed 4-1 at the halfway point but were able to storm their way back as Kevin Porter scored twice in a span of 2:28 in the third period, tying the game at 4-4 with 2:01 left to play.

Turnover problems came back to haunt the Amerks as in the overtime period a turnover set up the Charlotte game-winning goal.

Valentin Zykov buries the shot in the extra period handing the Amerks a 5-4 loss.

The next game for the Amerks will be Friday January 26 as they take on the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum.
