The amount of money raised to help Trevyan Rowe's family with funeral costs has reached more than $23,700 as of Tuesday morning.
Rowe disappeared after arriving at Rochester’s School No. 12 on Thursday morning. His body was found in the Genesee River on Sunday.
News10NBC met the creator of the Rowe GoFundMe page at Monday night’s vigil for Rowe.
Tian-Xing Stephans said that he didn't know the teen, but felt a connection to him. He started the page on Sunday after he found out Rowe has family that might need to travel here for the funeral.
"We're always here for each other, and you should be too,” Stephans said. “Think about yourself in the same position, and if it was your child, or even if you didn't know them. Just to give with open arms and open minds."
As a testament to how much Rowe's story touched the community, City of Rochester buildings were lit blue Monday night. The color represents autism awareness. Rowe had autism.
