News10NBC is looking into the status of a long-awaited project in Greece.
The Crescent Beach Hotel shut its doors in 2012 and was bought by a Canadian businessman with the promise to re-open it. But it's been years of work crawling along.
Earlier this year, officials hoped to re-open during the summer. But the property representative says lakeshore flooding set them back. They had to put in additional pumps to remove the water from the basement, replacing furnaces and electrical panels. But he promises they will see the project through and plan to start the hiring process as soon as possible.
"The exterior is finished, including the parking lot," says John Pietrangelo, property manager. "We had to re-do the shoreline and break wall that we did put in, but the interior is close, yes."
He says within the next few weeks they should have a game plan on how to move forward.
