Cyclists crossing state along Erie Canal make stop in Rochester

More than 650 cyclists are making their way from Buffalo to Albany this week.

It's part of the statewide "Cycle the Erie Canal" bike tour. The tour started Sunday in Buffalo and ends in Albany next Sunday, June 16.

Monday, the group stopped Genesee Valley Park and will end the day in Fairport before leaving Tuesday headed to Palmyra and later Seneca Falls.

Officials say the campaign is a way to promote tourism in the state as well as boost the economy along the canal.
