Are you thinking about taking the family out to eat tonight? Before you do, you need to check out our Dirty Dining Report.

I combed through the most recent health inspection records in six counties in our area. These restaurants were cited for critical violations, violations health inspectors say could put you at risk.

Fairport's Bistro Han serves Chinese and its food has earned, drawing glowing praise from patrons and professional reviewers alike.

But Monroe County health inspectors found a critical violation at their last review: Cooked food at risk of cross contamination from raw food.

I talked to the the owner on Friday and he admitted there had been a problem that day and he  immediately fixed it. He added, "We never have ready to serve food next to raw food."

At Brueggers on Pittsford Victor Road in Pittsford. The problem was food temperature. Inspectors found potentially hazardous food was not hot enough. A manager at the restaurant had no comment.

Monroe County Public Health Commissioner Michael Mendoza says food temperature is critical but often correctible. "It depends on the reason for the temperature violation, so if it's a refrigerator that needs to have a part repaired, that can be dealt with in a reasonably short period of time."

That was the case at India House Restaurant in Victor where inspectors cited owners with three critical violations for food that wasn't cold enough.

The manager told us, "We had a cooler break down and didn't realize it wasn't working effectively." He said he immediately fixed it.

At the Thirsty Turtle in Victor, inspectors found food wasn't cold enough. No one returned my calls there.

Every restaurant mentioned in my report immediately addressed the violation and was allowed to remain open.
