Our latest Do the Right Thing award winner is a ninth grader from East High School.
Teachers have noticed Nashalie Guzman-Calero growing both academically and behaviorally.
When she started middle school, Nashalie was in a lot of fights and her grades were slipping. When high school started, she made a promise to herself. Now, Nashalie has achieved a 4.10 GPA and has challenged herself to maintain it.
"The drama got in the way so I made a promise and I turned my life around and now here I am with all these other things," says Nashalie.
Nashalie is enrolled in the Teaching and Learning Institute at East High. She is also involved with the Visionary Lighthouse Team and is taking culinary classes. She is also on the girls JV basketball team.
