A seventh grader from School #58 is being recognized.

Jahleeya Roberts was nominated by the city recreation supervisor. Last October, Jahleeya noticed a student who was at the community center who she knew had recently run away from home.

Jahleeya quietly went and told an adult. It takes leadership and courage to “do the right thing” especially when you know the person you're helping may become angry with you.

Jahleeya: "They said I was brave and did the right thing."

Reporter: "Do you think you're brave?"

Jahleeya: "Yeah, I think if they have seen her. They wouldn't have done anything. They would have let her be because they didn't know her."

Jahleeya is a student-athlete. The girl was eventually reunited with her family and was able to get the help she needed.
