Driver who struck and injured State Trooper is charged

The driver who rear-ended and seriously injured a New York State Trooper in May has been charged.

According to the New York State Police, 78-year-old Kenneth Aukett of Westmont, NJ has been issued tickets for reckless driving, failing to move over and yield to an emergency vehicle, failure to reduce speed, and driving across hazard markings on the roadway.

Aukett's car rear-ended the vehicle of Trooper Craig Foglia during a traffic stop on May 17 off I-86W in the Town of Campbell in Steuben County. Foglia, an Irondequoit High School graduate, spent seven weeks in the hospital as a result of his injuries. 

Aukett will appear in the Town of Campbell Court on September 18 to face the charges.
