Fresh Start: Alcohol and weight loss

When you are trying to lose weight, you will want to avoid alcohol.

Not only does alcohol add extra calories, but it decreases recovery after a workout. Your body is going to digest and metabolize alcohol first. So if you're eating with your alcohol, your food is just going to be sitting there and more likely to be stored as fat.

If you do drink, a red or white wine has about 110 calories for a 4-6 ounce serving. Light beer has around 100 calories each, and clear alcohol is about 70 calories per shot.
