A new plant is coming to the former Müller Quaker plant in Batavia, bringing 230 new jobs.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that HP Hood will invest $200 million into the facility. The company bought the former yogurt processing plant. Müller Quaker sold the business in December of 2015, leaving dozens out of work.
The governor calls the news part of his commitment to upstate New York. "The first new recognition is focus on the economy," said Cuomo. "It's about jobs, jobs, jobs. If you are creating jobs, if government is working to create jobs, then everything is going to take care of itself."
HP Hood plans to re-purpose the facility. The hope is that construction will start this summer with the plant opening sometime in 2019.
