The National Weather Service has put in place an Ice Storm Warning through 2 p.m. on Sunday for the counties of Monroe, Wayne, Ontario, Orleans, Livingston, Genesee, Wyoming, Cayuga, Oswego, and Erie.
The warning will go into effect at 2 p.m. on Saturday for most counties.It will go into effect at 4 p.m. for Wayne, Ontario, Oswego and Northern Cayuga counties.
The National Weather Service warns that "significant icing and gusty winds" are expected, and that the ice accumulations will be around one half-inch. Power outages and tree damage are "likely" due to the winds and ice, and travel will be difficult at times due to ice-covered surfaces and downed tree limbs and power lines.
