The victim in this cold case is a 31-year-old father from Chili. This is a murder that has puzzled detectives for decades.

Rochester Police say Darren Johnson was shot and run over by a car. His body was found in the road on Boys Club Place on October 25, 1997. That's near the ice rink near 490 in the Corn Hill neighborhood.

Rochester Police Major Crimes Investigator Gary Galetta responded to the scene. It was his first year working in homicide.

Nikki Rudd: Do you ever forget these? Do you remember each one?

Inv. Gary Galetta: They haunt me. If somebody knows what happened, please reach out. It's not just for my sake, 20 years of wanting to know what happened here, but for the family.

Nikki also met with the victim's oldest daughter. She was just 13 years old when her father was murdered.

Hear from her, plus News10NBC obtained exclusive pictures from the crime scene.
