As a baby, Kaci was talking before she was walking, so her parents always had an idea she’d end up where she is now.
Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia she attended high school in Port St. Lucie, Florida. It was there her love for TV began. She landed the spot as the first weather anchor for the school's daily morning newscast.
It was no surprise she went on to pursue a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She followed her mother's footsteps and attended Florida A&M University. GO RATTLERS! While enrolled, she was selected to be the sports anchor for FAMU-TV, a cable network broadcasting in more than 250,000 homes across North Florida and South Georgia.
After graduation, Kaci packed up and headed West to the ABC affiliate in Midland/Odessa, Texas. They don't call it the Wild West for nothing! While in West Texas, she covered siblings charged with their parent’s murder, a 16-hour police standoff leaving multiple officers injured, a high school shooting, and the cyclical oil and gas cycle connected to the high crime rate. To her surprise, she even covered severe weather. Who knew it would snow and flood in the desert?
Kaci strives to help people in any way she can. She’ll never forget reporting on a small school district forced to cut the band program because they couldn't find a band director. Within a week, applications poured in from all over the country. The superintendent says her story led to the hiring of a full time band director and he credits her for saving the program.
Kaci wants to give a voice to the voiceless and stick up for the little guy. She has a passion for education because she believes education is the key to ending the mass incarceration and poverty problem in the country. She hopes you'll reach out to her if she can help you or anyone you know.
Kaci is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
In her free time she enjoys reading, watching reality TV, traveling and group exercise.
You can catch Kaci waking you weekday mornings on News 10 NBC Today.
