UPDATE: Police say Rochester man pistol whipped on North Clinton Avenue

Police say a Rochester man is recovering after he was pistol whipped with a handgun.

Rochester Police say officers responded shortly after 10:00 p.m. Saturday night to North Clinton Avenue for the report of a man shot in the face. They say officers found a 42-year-old man with cuts to his head and face. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, and medical personnel say he is expected to survive.

Medical personnel also report that the victim had not actually been shot, according to police. Police say the investigation showed he had actually been pistol whipped.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
