The Livingston County Sheriff's Office will be the first in the state to use a new piece of technology that many have probably only seen in the movies.
It is a GPS device that deputies can use during a high speed chase. The company Starchase has created a tracker that's shot out of a law enforcement vehicle onto the car they are chasing.
Even if the deputies then slow down, the suspect will remain tagged.
It is designed to cut down on injury, damage, and financial exposure like court settlements and medical bills for the department.
