A local group of people spent the last 12 months not only losing weight, but also collecting canned goods to be donated to Foodlink.

The group, called TOPS (for "Take Off Pounds Sensibly"), started their challenge during October, aiming to lose weight through the Holiday Season.

While they did that, they asked friends, family, and other people in the community to sponsor them, and donate cans of food.

"The challenge, what we decided we wanted to try and help the community some," says Evelyn Spruill.

"So we also helped ourselves by losing weight, making ourselves healthier, and we will also be able to donate the canned goods to the community, which will help the less fortunate."

The group got together on Sunday to build a structure out of all the cans they collected.

They will donate the cans to Foodlink on Monday.
