Chronic pain will soon be considered a qualifying condition for medical marijuana in New York State.
The state Department of Health announced the change on Thursday. It takes effect March 22.
The state also announced Thursday that physician assistants will be able to certify patients for the marijuana program, as long as their supervising physician is also registered to certify patients.
