Nazareth Hockey plans fundraiser for Veterans Outreach Center

November 09, 2017 09:17 PM

Back in September, News10NBC's Jennifer Lewke broke a story about the financial distress of the local Veterans Outreach Center. The Rochester VOC will no longer be receiving a federal grant worth $2.1 million, which means they've had to scale back efforts to help local vets.

The Nazareth College ice hockey team saw that story and answered the call to action. This Saturday at 4 p.m., the Golden Flyers will host a military appreciation game. All proceeds from the contest, from ticket sales to a special jersey auction, will go directly to the Rochester Veteran's Outreach Center.

"You know we saw that they lost their funding and obviously we're not going to match what was taken away but we're doing our part to help out," says George Roll, Nazareth head coach.
