Survey: NY among middle of the pack when it comes to DWI punishment

Our state ranks as more lenient then most for drunk driving penalties, according to a new report from WalletHub.

Their study looked at jail time, costs and treatment requirements for every state in the U.S.

New York ranked 29. The report cited no minimum sentences for first time offenses. But it credits the state for required treatments.

Arizona has the harshest penalties while South Dakota was ranked most lenient.
