The Ontario County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of phone scams after a resident in Gorham received such a call on Saturday.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the call was from a woman with a thick foreign accent who told the resident that they had a small overdue debt and that if they did not act immediately and pay off the debt it could negatively affect their bank accounts and credit ratings.
