Crowds pack Frontier Field for 'Plates Night'

Rochester loves the Red Wings and Rochester loves garbage plates. Thursday night, at Frontier Field, the Red Wings found a way to combine the two.

It was Plates Night on Thursday. While Nick Tahou's served up plates, the Red Wings wore custom "Rochester Plates" uniforms to take the field against Norfolk.

According to the team, 13,281 people attended the festivities at Frontier Field -- the fifth largest baseball crowd in the stadium's history.

As for the baseball game, the Plates took the Tides into extra innings tied 4-4 until the Tides pulled ahead in the 12th.

Thursday night, we also learned this won't be the last time you see the Plates in Rochester. The team will use the nicknames again every Thursday home game in 2018.
