Parents and teachers show concern over standardized testing

Parents and teachers were showing concern over standardized testing even as the Monroe County Federation of Teachers is informing them they have a right to refuse.

The Monday afternoon conference was asking the state to separate student testing from teacher evaluations, and also asking that grades 3 through 8 be done in conjunction with the High School Regents testing in June.

They also want the tests to be significantly shorter. 

"There are staff and there are teachers that are really working hard to change the status and change the report card for the Rochester City School District, and it will never happen if we keep taking these exams," says parent Eileen Graham.

Graham also says she took her daughter out of public schools because the anxiety she had around testing.
