In a tweet, President Trump announced plans to give out awards to the outlets he says has provided the worst reporting on his presidency.

In the tweet, Trump told followers he will announce "THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR" next Monday at 5 p.m.

The president added, "Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!"

Trump's campaign also mentioned the awards in an email last week to supporters, according to a Washington Times report. According to the post, the email reads, "Americans are sick and tired of being lied to, insulted, and treated with outright condescension. That's why President Trump is crowning the 2017 KING OF FAKE NEWS before the end of the year."

The planned awards are far from the first time the president has taken on the media. During and before his term, President Trump has used Twitter and other means to push back against reporting that is often critical of his administration, and that he claims is biased and inaccurate.
