Report: NY 3rd safest state for drivers

A new report says New York is one of the safest states for drivers.

SafeWise released their report on The Safest and Most Dangerous States for Drivers in 2017. Based on data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, New York has .052 fatalities per 1,000 drivers.

Massachusetts was ranked the safest state, and North Dakota the most dangerous state for drivers. 

New York also ranks second when it comes to fewest drunk driving fatalities.

Other key findings:

  • States that have longer commute times and slower speed limits have less fatalities.
  • The higher the BAC level in a person’s body, the faster they tended to speed.
  • States with younger median ages and higher birth rates correlated with higher fatality rates.
