Report suggests rural schools consolidate

A new report calls for rural schools in the state to consolidate services.

The state Association of School Business officials released that report this week. Their research found increases in student poverty met with an average of ten percent drop in enrollment.

Livingston, Wayne, Orleans and Yates counties all saw population drop in the past 15 years. The report suggests districts work together to avoid cutting programs.
