ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester Central School District made holiday meal prep a little easier for some families Tuesday.

The RCSD teamed up with Foodlink to give families meat and produce at a drive-thru distribution event at Rochester International Academy.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., anyone who needed it could pick up a box of chicken and vegetables.

Organizer Kelli Monique Briggs said it’s all about supporting the community.

"There is a hunger need so one of the things we want to make sure that we do in the Rochester City School District is whenever we can help our families, whatever we can, that’s what we do," Briggs said. "So the whole department is here making sure that we’re here to help our families but we also want to make sure our students are covered too so we make sure that we partner with a different school every time we do these."

The RCSD plans to continue food distrution events throughout the winter.
